Update from the Mortgage World: Our recent streak of dipping mortgage rates took a brief pause. They've been on a downward trend, hitting their lowest in over a month, but as of today, they've steadied - though they're still pretty much in line with last Friday's low rates, so no biggie for most folks.
But let's not dwell on today's news; tomorrow's the real showstopper. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) data drops, and it's a big deal for mortgage rates.
While there are loads of reports each month that could sway rates, the CPI stands out. Despite the lack of drama from last Friday's jobs report, all eyes are on tomorrow's CPI. Its outcome could swing rates significantly, depending on how it compares to expectations. So, stay tuned - we're in for an interesting ride!
