This week, there's a lot of confusion in the mortgage world. While lenders are talking about new loan limits, they haven’t officially changed, and despite news reports, mortgage rates actually increased slightly, not decreased.

There's talk of a refinancing boom, but it's not what it seems. While refinancing activity has picked up from recent lows, it’s still far from the high levels seen in the past. Many homeowners with low rates aren’t incentivized to refinance unless it's for reasons like debt consolidation.

Finally, economic data this week was mostly uneventful, with inflation remaining under control. However, next week’s job report could have a bigger impact on rates.
